Description

The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight is a modern masterpiece of retro-inspired watchmaking. It scales down the chunky proportions of the original Black Bay 41 into a much more wearable and historically faithful 39mm case size. With its gilt dial accents, vintage burgundy-red bezel triangle, domed sapphire crystal, and riveted bracelet, it channels the spirit of Tudor's iconic 1958 Submariner (Ref. 7924) while offering state-of-the-art modern reliability and an in-house COSC-certified movement.

Key Features

Proportional 39mm case size reminiscent of vintage 1950s dive watches, lack of crown guards, signature Snowflake hands, gilt dial printing, and the proprietary in-house MT5402 caliber with a 70-hour power reserve.

Dial Description

Domed matte black dial with gilt (gold-colored) minute track and text, applied dot and geometric indices with faux-patina luminous fill, signature 'Snowflake' hands with white fill and gilt surrounds, displaying hours, minutes, and central seconds with no date complication.

Case Material

Stainless steel (316L) with a mix of polished case flanks and satin-brushed top surfaces on the lugs.

Crystal Type

Domed sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating, mimicking the look of vintage acrylic crystals.

Bezel Details

Unidirectional rotating stainless steel bezel with a black aluminum insert, 60-minute dive scale with silvered numerals and markers, and a distinct red triangle marker at the 12 o'clock position.

Crown & Pushers

Screw-down stainless steel winding crown featuring the historical Tudor rose logo in relief, with no crown guards, set on a prominent tube.

Bracelet or Strap

Riveted stainless steel three-link bracelet with satin-brushed finishing and visible rivet heads on the sides mimicking vintage bracelets from the 1950s and 60s, secured with a folding clasp.

Caseback Details

Solid stainless steel screw-down case back with traditional brushed circular finishing and plain central area reserved for engravings.

Movement Type

Automatic self-winding, Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5402, beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), with a 70-hour power reserve, variable inertia balance, silicon balance spring, and COSC certification.

200 meters (660 feet) / 20 ATM, suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational scuba diving, though not designed for professional saturation diving.

Origin & Provenance

Swiss Made, manufactured in Geneva, Switzerland, featuring an in-house high-performance movement produced by Kenissi, Tudor's movement manufacturing arm.

Age Estimate

Circa 2018-present, following the model's debut at Baselworld 2018.

Cultural Significance

The BB58 played a pivotal role in shifting the modern watch industry away from oversized watches back toward vintage-appropriate, smaller case dimensions, cementing Tudor's identity independent of its parent company, Rolex.

Condition Notes

The watch displays typical light desk-diving hairline scratches on the polished case flanks and clasp, but the bezel, crystal, and dial appear pristine. Overall condition is Excellent.

Value Estimate

Retail price (MSRP) is approximately $3,900 to $4,100 USD depending on the bracelet configuration. Secondary market values generally range between $3,200 and $3,800 USD based on condition and inclusion of original box and papers.

Care & Maintenance

Recommended mechanical service interval of 5 to 10 years. Water resistance seals should be pressure tested annually, especially if used for swimming or diving. Clean the stainless steel bracelet with mild soap and warm water.
